Head down Bond Street, there is a dark house by the park. It is a private residence but also houses a rehearsal room for local Auckland bands. Rehearsal room is enclosed with a soundproof door that never quite closes properly. It is small and and feels claustrophobic. Tonight there is hardcore band Long Distance Runner, a group of musicians that came together from the remains of past Auckland bands who have now disbanded. Their sound and inspiration morphs into the intensity that has collided in producing two EP's and a large amount of live shows around the country. Their style is fast and deafening, yet precise and disciplined, a result of the work the band has put into their songs. Talent comes together in this dark, suburban house on Bond Street and is always present. Aggressive and chaotic, LDR play with power and skill. It may be rehearsal but the band practice until they can't anymore.
